Illusion of Permanence

An installation of mixed-media work exploring and challenging established notions of Function, Structure and Conformity through Ambiguity, Contradiction and Imperfection.

The exhibition featured soundscapes and projected moving-image compositions constructed from a fusion of abstract and literal audio and video recordings from around the city.

There was also an installation using three vintage Kodak carousels projecting images in timed sequences. The images were reverted back to 35mm transparency slides from photographs taken on an iPhone over a 10 year period. The ephemeral and disposable nature of digital memories once again became material and permanent.
